Fair Voting

What do Mr Blair and Lady Thatcher have in common, apart from being Prime Minister? They have both had huge majorities in the House of Commons, even though only about 4 voters in 10 had supported them in General Elections. That's not fair, not efficient and not democratic! But it doesn't have to be like that. If you would like a better voting system so voters get what they vote for, I recommend you to visit and sign the online petition for STV there. Sussex nature in the raw

One doesn't have to go to Africa to see nature in the raw. I saw a seagull on the south coast this morning with a small crab - lovely lunch for the gull but tough on the crab!

Global warming

Despite a cool north wind, a beautiful day today, with several people on the seafront admiring the view. Truly sunny Sussex by the sea, but is such a sunny November day a sign of global warming? One of those on the seafront was sitting in his car with the engine running, presumably to keep him warm. I reminded him politely that exhaust emissions contribute to global warming and he was hastening the day when the car park, and perhaps the entire village, would be under the sea; I asked him if he would mind switching the engine off, but he refused.
